3:00pm Update: Ash Pole Fire has grown to 1,100 acres while the Grizzly Bear Fire has been remeasured to 72.3 acres. A new fire has been reported just to the southeast of Harrison as the Rocky Fire has burned five acres, no containment numbers have been released

11:45am Update: The Sandy Fire has been remeasured and has burned 425 acres.

Numerous fires have broken out across the Nebraska panhandle after dry storms pushed across the region Wednesday night. 

The Sandy Fire near Henry Road roughly 20 miles southwest of Harrison just north of Carpenter Ranch has burned an estimated 1,500 acres at last report (10:30am Thursday). 

The two fires burning roughly 16 miles south of Chadron just north of Table Road, the Grizzly Bear Fire and the Ash Pole fire have burned a combined 425 acres with the Ash Pole Fire being the largest at 350 acres and the Grizzly Bear Fire having burned 75 acres at last report (10:30am Thursday). 

The entire region is under a red flag warning until 7pm Friday evening with high temperature in the lower 80’s and lows in the mid 40’s along with winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour throughout the day Thursday before decreasing overnight Thursday into Friday. Rain is likely Saturday night into Sunday which should help firefighting efforts.
