Northwest Rural Public Power District has announced that they have cut power southwest of Chadron due to the Ash Pole Fire.
Northwest Rural Public Power District said in a Facebook post just after 11am Thursday that they have cut power to the area north of River Road going north on Squaw Mound Road. In the Facebook post NRPPD said that this is the result of reports of burned trees in danger of falling on power lines so they are doing this to aid firefighting efforts.
NRPPD asks the public that if they see downed lines or poles or other hazards to let them know and to always presume that electrical lines are energized.
The area of the outage is highlighted in red on the map.
