Young women from Lincoln, Hershey, and North Platte claimed the titles of Miss Alliance, Miss Chadron, and Miss Fur Trade Days Saturday at the Best of the West Scholarship Pageant in Alliance
Miss Alliance Rose Seeman is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln while Miss Chadron Katie Hoatson is a senior at North Platte High.
Miss Fur Trade Days is Katelyn Bowers, a senior at North Platte High. All 3 advance to the Miss Nebraska Pageant next June in North Platte
Also crowned Saturday night were the new Miss Alliance’s Outstanding Teen and Miss Chadron’s Outstanding Teen.
13-year old Alexandra Thompson of North Platte was named Miss Alliance’s Outstanding Teen with Olivia Terwey of Hastings Miss Chadron OT. They also advance to the state pageant next June in North Platte.
Other awards at the Miss level include Kately Bowers as overall community service winner, Sydny Ridgeway of Gering was the audience choice winner and 2nd in community service and was the audience choice award winner for the competition.
For the Teen competitors, Olivia Terwey was the community service and audience choice winner while Alexandra Thompson was 2nd in community service
Voted by their fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality were Lexi Nolda of North Platte at the Miss level and Rylie Wright of Hemingford for the teens.
There were 5 candidates vying for the Outstanding Teen titles and 7 for the Miss titles. Co-MCs for the evening were Miss Nebraska 2021 Morgan Holen and her mother, Miss Nebraska 1988 Jodi Miller Holen – the first mother-daughter Miss Nebraskas.
Morgan Holen will represent the state next month at the 100th Anniversary Miss America Scholarship Pageant.
The Best in the West Pageant is a merger of the Miss Chadron and Miss Alliance Pageants, but director Rikki Hunter is hoping to find someone to take over in Chadron and return to separate pageants.
