Funeral services for 63-year old Benjamin Big Crow Sr are Wednesday, Nov 17, 2021 at 10:00 at the Porcupine Presbyterian Church Hall in Porcupine, SD, with Fr Peter Klink, S.J., officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr Ty Lunderman
Burial is at St Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD.
A one-night wake service starts Tuesday, November 16, at 3:30, also at the Porcupine Presbyterian Church Hall in Porcupine, SD with a rosary service starting at 7:00
Benjamin David Big Crow Sr “Tatanka Wase Kicun” was born on November 7, 1958 in Pine Ridge, SD to James Big Crow and Marcella Susie Mills-Big Crow. Benjamin made his journey to the Spirit World on November 11, 2021 at the IHS Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Benjamin is survived by his wife, Cindy Iron Cloud-Big Crow; daughters, Haley (Oscar) Hernandez and Diandra Catches; sons, Nicholas (Liz) Hernandez, Darrell (Stevanna) Hernandez and Julian Hernandez; siblings, Bob (Mary) Big Crow & Family, Jay Big Crow & Family, Joyce (“Shorty”) Brewer & Family, Tim Big Crow & Family, Liz (Ernie) Little & Family, Rita Big Crow & Family, Ruth Pourier & Family, Ray (Sue) Big Crow & Family, Ollie Big Crow & Family, Duane Big Crow & Family, Diane (Dennis) Painte & Family, Bessie (George) Dreamer & Family, Erma Big Crow & Family, Brenda (Tony) Zimiga & Family, Cathy (Boyd) Ferguson & Family, Jennifer (Steve) Red Owl & Family, Mike Iron Cloud & Family, Margaret (Eldon) Black Bull & Family and Pat Iron Cloud, Jr. & Family; and grandchildren, Deiondre Big Crow, Benjamin Big Crow III, Aubrey Hernandez, Aurian Hernandez, Alee Hernandez, Justin Hernandez, Kai Hernandez, Keya Hernandez, Amiah Good Shield-Hernandez and Luna Martin.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marcella Big Crow; brothers, Gerald and Walt Big Crow; sisters, Geraldine Merchant and Theresa Black Bull; and son, Benjamin Big Crow, Jr.
