Funeral services for 83-year old Geraldine “Gerry” Pettipiece of Crawford, NE, are Friday, July 14th, 2023 at 10:00 at the United Methodist Church in Crawford 

Visitation is Thursday, July 13th , from 5:00-7:00 pm at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, NE.

Burial will be in the Crawford Cemetery. 

A memorial has been established for the Crawford Methodist Church, the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department, or the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337

Geraldine Louise “Gerry” Pettipiece was born February 23, 1940 in Crawford to Albert and Helen (Harrison) Meng. She passed away on July 8th, 2023, at Chadron Community Hospital.

Gerry grew up on the family ranch in Sioux County and graduated from Chadron Prep School in 1957. She went on to receive her teaching certificate from Chadron State College, then taught in country schools

Her first year of teaching was in Box Butte County, but she later taught in Sioux County at both the Co School and the Norman School. 

Gerry married Wes Pettipiece on October 15, 1964, at Scottsbluff, NE. They worked for Roscoe Royal for 4 years, then moved to their Sioux County ranch where they raised their son Charlie. 

In 2004, the couple retired from ranching and moved to Chadron where Gerry would spend 18 years working at Walmart.  She loved arrowhead and fossil hunting and her family.

Gerry is survived by her husband Wes of Chadron; son Charlie and his wife Sharon of Central Missouri; grandchildren and Kelsey; many great-grandchildren; her sister Mary Reed of Del Valle, TX; and many Nieces and Nephews. 

Gerry was preceded in death by her first husband John Serres; her father and mother; sister Sally Cullers; and brother Bill Meng
