Graveside services for 91-year-old Grace Bad Hand will be held at a later date at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
Grace was a veteran of the U-S Air Force.
Grace Bad Hand “Wakanyela Ti Win”, translated from Lakota to mean The House I Live In Is Holy, was born along the White River in the Bad Nation area of South Dakota on March 24, 1931. Grace made her journey to the Spirit World on November 13, 2022 at the Hot Springs VA Medical Center in Hot Springs, SD.
Grace is survived by her daughter Barbara Thayer; sister Betty O’Leary; grandchildren Stefanie Kello, Zachary Thayer, and Lydia Whirlwind Soldier; first-cousin June Bad Hand; and niece Teresa Cheever.
Grace was preceded in death by her father William Whirlwind Bad Hand; mother Effie Pretty Voice Hawk; siblings Willis Bad Hand, Julie Gayhart, Yakima Bad Hand, and six other siblings.
Pallbearer will be Zachary Thayer.
Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.
