Herbster And Slama Drop Defamation Lawsuits Against Each Other

Loading

Dueling defamation lawsuits between State Senator Julie Slama and millionaire agri-businessman and unsuccessful GOP gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster are over and nobody’s saying why.

Slama’s attorney released a joint statement saying only that “The Parties have dismissed their litigation against each other and will make no further statement on the matter.”

Neither side admitted any fault or released any terms of a settlement, confirming only that they had agreed to drop their lawsuits with prejudice, meaning they can’t sue again for the same reasons.

The suits began with allegations by 8 women in an April story by the Nebraska Examiner that Herbster had groped at different times in the previous few years.

Slama was the only one to speak on the record, saying Herbster had reached up her skirt and touched her without consent at a political event where they both spoke..

Herbster sued for defamation almost immediately, denying the accusation and arguing Slama had damaged his reputation as part of an effort to derail his campaign for governor. She countersued days later.

Herbster said it was a political conspiracy by Gov. Pete Ricketts to help his pick for governor, University of Nebraska Regent Jim Pillen, defeat Herbster – which he eventually did. Ricketts and Pillen have denied taking part in any political conspiracy.

  1. Salama and her “friends,” took Charles W Herbster out of the Governor’s race when it was obvious that Herbster was very likely going to win the Primary. They used the tried and true Democratic tactic of screaming “sexual assault” and leaning on the Me too movement. Any one that knows Charles Herbster knows what a stretch that was, They did the same thing to Senator Groene as he was timed out and running for Regent of the UN systems, He was one of the true, honest State Senators. Write in Borer for Governor if you want to get out of the NE swamp. I know we are supposed to walk the party line, but Borer is a Republican and has our values, Voter your values. Thanks.
