Inaugural RMAC Women’s Wrestling Championships Saturday In Denver

The 1st annual Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Wrestling Championship will be held at Regis University on Saturday, February 3, at 9:00 a.m.
 
Chadron State enters the tournament with a wrestler in every weight class except 130 pounds. Adams State, CSC, Colorado Mesa, Simon Fraser and Texas Women’s University are the five teams in the tournament.
 
Despite only five teams competing, the competition level will still be highly competitive. Colorado Mesa is currently ranked fifth in the nation while Simon Fraser is one spot behind in 6th place.
 
The Mavericks have five wrestlers ranked nationally and the Red Leafs have six.
 
Chadron State has wrestled each of the four other teams in duals throughout the season. In the season opener, Colorado Mesa defeated CSC 41-3. The Eagles fell to Texas Women’s 23-23 on criteria, defeated Adams State 41-8 but were defeated by Simon Fraser 36-8 later in the year.
 
Britley Lopez (101 lbs), Brianna Vollendroff (109 lbs), Annika Lee (136 lbs), Maria Arellano (170 lbs), and Kamila Montenegro (191 lbs) all are already in the semifinals after receiving first round byes.
