Funeral services for 74-year old Robert Richards Sr are Sunday, Feb 4, 2024 at 11:00 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym in Pine Ridge, SD, with Fr Brad Held, SJ, officiating.
Cremation will follow the services with burial at a later date at the Richards Family Cemetery in Pine Ridge
A one-night wake service starts Sat, Feb 3, at noon at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym with rosary services at 6:00 PM

Robert Patrick Richards Sr was born on Jan 13, 1950 at home in Hisle, SD to Charles Richards and Regina “Rita” (Tapio) Richards. Robert made his journey to the Spirit World on Jan 24, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Robert enjoyed fishing, riding horses, fixing cars, and telling ghost stories by the campfire with his grandchildren.
He loved his grandchildren with all his heart and spent most of his time with them – teaching them, caring for them, and just cherishing the time he had with them. He will be deeply missed.
Robert is survived by his children Troy Whalen, Myron Whalen, Patrick Richards Jr, Arlie Richards-Stark, Derek “Tex” Richards, Arlen Richards, Ariel Richards, Tesean Richards, Taylinn Richards, and Joe Linehan; siblings Phyllis Kocer, Francine “Punk” Whalen, Valeria Richards, Shirley Bradford, Desiree Colhoff, Tressee Colhoff, Sheree Bagola, and Paris Sullivan; his beloved grandchildren Austin Red Shirt, Brittney Red Shirt, Samuel Red Shirt, Misty Richards, Lacee Stark, Shiloh Richards, Shanami Richards, Brianna Richards, Charliese Brings Plenty, Charles Richards, Kingsley Richards, Jamiah Goings, Jayton Goings, Micah Goings, Max Goings, La’Keysha Big Eagle, Donald “Gabriel” Big Eagle, Rylee Janis, Bailey Janis, Olivia Bagola, Jazzy Bagola, and McKenzie Buckman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandkids that loved him dearly.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Regina “Rita” Richards; son, Irving Cottier; siblings Edison “Buzzy” Richards, Leslie “Chum Chum” Richards, Lonnie Bettelyoun, Charles “Chuck” Richards, Nettie “Choppy” Oldson, Virginia “Ginger” Pourier; and half brothers Glenn Three Stars, and Kenny DuBray.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Brown, Jake Brown, Tasean Richards, Charles Oldson, James Oldson, Austin Red Shirt, Sam Red Shirt, Logan Cottier, LJ Oldson, Orville Oldson, Bradley Red Cloud, Shawn Richards, Charles Richards, and Ferris White Bull.
Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives – too many to mention.
