Funeral services for 75-year old Ione Ace Bettelyoun are Tues, April 19, 2022 at 10:00 at the New American Legion in Martin, SD, with Fr Tyler Dennis officiating.
Burial is at the Grace Cemetery in Martin
A one-night wake service starts Monday, April 18, at 5:00 at the New American Legion in Martin.
Ione Bettelyoun was born on February 3, 1947 in Allen, SD to Josephine Underbaggage and Vincent LaMont, Sr. Ione made her journey to the Spirit World on April 10, 2022 in Fort Meade, SD.
Ione grew up down along Bear Creek, east of Allen, with her mother and siblings, Richard, Lenora, Tilden, Lewis, Rhoda, Vincent, Jr., Delphine, Steven, and Gary.
After losing her father at a young age, Ione became a second mother to her siblings, especially her younger brothers. After moving to Martin, she had four children of her own: Terrance Shane, Gina LuRee, Tilden Leo, and Donna Rose.
Along with her husband, Marvin Bettelyoun, Ione adopted her two granddaughters, Marci Jo and Shilo Rae.
They raised the girls together in Martin and remained together until Marvin’s passing in 2013. Ione continue in Martin, living in the house her mother had left her.
She enjoyed visiting with friends, doing things with her grandchildren, LaMeera Mae and Triston Terran, drinking coffee, and doing little pet projects around the house, but most of all, she liked to spend as much time as she could with her beloved great-granddaughter, Evelyn Marie.
Ione is survived by her daughters, Shilo (Chris) Hahn, Marci LaMont, and estranged daughter, Donna LaMont; step son, Peter (Carolyn) Douthit; siblings, Vincent (Sophie) LaMont, Steve LaMont, Delphine (Sam) Lessert, and George LaMont; grandchildren, LaMeera Mills, estranged grandson, Triston Mills, Travis (Katrina) Fish, Michael, Jackson, & Shelby Fish; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Hahn; great-grandsons, Tristan Fish and Teagan Fish; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and special dogs, Boots Bettelyoun and Dot.
Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Bettelyoun; mother, Josephine Underbaggage; father, Vincent LaMont, Sr.; daughter, Gina LuRee; sons, Tilden Leo LaMont and Shane Fish; step son, Kerwin Douthit; brothers, Richard LaMont, Gary LaMont, Tilden Lewis-LaMont, and Paul LaMont; and sisters, Lenora (LaMont) Blue Bird and Rhoda LaMont.
Pallbearers will be Brad Hahn, Adam Hahn, Jonathan Bad Wound, Jr., Luke Bad Wound, Shaler LaMont, Darrell Barnum, Waylon LaMont, and Dwight Pawnee Leggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
