Funeral services for 87-year James “Jim” Weber, of Grand Island, NE, are Monday, Feb 6, 2023 at 2:00 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island with  Pastors Bill Pavuk and Les Canfield officiating. 

Memorials are suggested to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

James Leonard “Jim” Weber  was born on October 2, 1935 in a sod house in Elizabeth, Nebraska to Paul & Irene (Paine) Weber. Jim passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan 26, 2023 at CHI Health – St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island with his family by his side.

Jim served in the U-S Army from 1959 – 1961 following graduation from high school.  On June 3, 1962, he married Rebecca Toft in Peetz, CO. 

Jim farmed and ranched all his life, but was also an Industrial Arts teacher and coach for several years.  He was the author of “Papa – Fantastic Bunny Trails,” and enjoyed leatherwork and his livestock.  

 Jim & Becky moved to Grand Island in 2011 to be closer to family.  Above all things, Jim enjoyed his time with his children, especially the grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Rebecca Weber of Grand Island; sons & daughters-in-law Nicholas & Lisa Weber of Kansas, Christopher & Rosemarie Weber of Connecticut; and Timothy & Patricia  Weber of Purdum, NE; daughter & son-in-law Janel & Brian Laub of Grand Island; grandchildren Stacie, Kayla (Matt), Dustin, Taylor, Christopher, Benjamin, Jennifer, Baylee (Michah), Becca, Jay & Garret; great-grandchildren Kyle, Jessica, Erica, Bryson, Landon & Shelby; sister, Elizabeth Gibbons;  brothers and sisters-in-law Theodore “Ted” Weber of S-D, Glen & Lauretta Weber of Colorado and Gene Weber of Colorado.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Irene Weber; sister, and Lila Ahrens.
