James Alfred Richard Sr was born on June 22, 1958 in Pine Ridge to Thomas Steven Richard and Emma Stella (Two Crow) Richard. James made his journey to the Spirit World on Feb 14, 2024 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
James is survived by his children Justes Scott, Johnathon Richard and Alexander Richard both of Pine Ridge; Edna “Squeak” Richard and Dakota Richard both of Rapid City, SD; Kadell Richard of Pine Ridge; Brennan Cheyenne of Pukwana, SD; and Emma & Annie Richard both of Denver, CO; aunts MaryAnn (Larry) Meester of Mesquite, NV and Bertha Conroy of Batesland, SD; siblings Marvin (Jacky) Richard Sr and Bonnie Richard both of Pine Ridge and Wilma Richard of White Clay, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and relatives.
James was preceded in death by his parents Thomas & Emma (Two Crow) Richard; sons Dean Richard and James Richard Jr; daughters Jamie Richard and Jackie Richard; siblings Carma (Neal) Fullen, Sandra (Bryan Sr) Blue Bird, Kadell Richard, Dale N Richard, Douglas Richard, Ronnie Richard, and Byron Richard; cousins John Red Hawk and Wardell Red Hawk; nieces Brenda Blue Bird and Crystal Bell; nephews Lonnie T Richard, Marty Richards, and Colbert Richards; and grandchildren Blanche Bell and Dean Alexander Richard.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Jenkins, Sage Richard, Rich Red Hawk, Marvella Richard, Duane White Calf, Leonard Black Feather, Thad Richard, Darrel Spotted Elk Jr, Austin Richard, and Tom Red Hawk.
