Funeral services for 53-year old John Daniel Conquering Bear-Janis are Tues, July 19, 2022 at 2:00 at the LaCreek CAP Office in Martin, SD, with Hermus Poor Thunder officiating and traditional Lakota services by Dave and Chepka Claymore
Cremation to follow services with burial at a later date.

John Daniel Conquering Bear-Janis was born on August 12, 1966 in Pine Ridge, SD to John Conquering Bear and Ruth Janis. John made his journey to the Spirit World on July 12, 2022 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
John did many odd jobs over the years. He loved to mechanic, drive truck, and work as a farm/ranch hand. John was a jack-of-all-trades and attempted many things at least once.
John is survived by his wife, Frances “Frankie” James-Janis; children, Michelle S. Janis, Anthony Janis, Alisha Janis, Jonnie Lynn Janis, and Blaine Rowland; step-children, Nathaniel James, Mitzi James, Jacquelyne Hicks, and Alisa Hicks; brothers, Richard Conquering Bear, Peter Conquering Bear, Isadore Conquering Bear, Ron Conquering Bear, Alex Richards, Michael Conquering Bear, Irvin Salway, and Curtis Mosell; sisters, Hope (Randy) Conquering Bear, Connie Conquering Bear, and Devona Conquering Bear; uncles. Salway, and Gordon Standing Bear; uncles, Martin Conquering Bear, Joshua Conquering Bear, Doug Conquering Bear, Jack Conquering Bear, and Leonard Janis, Jr.; aunt, Margie Conquering Bear-Morrison; cousins, Noah Bad Wound, Martin Bad Wound, Orland Morrison, Bill Morrison, and Bonni High Bull; grandparents, Joshua Conquering Bear, Sr. and Edith Marshall-Conquering Bear, Leonard Janis, Sr. and Myrtle Two Crow-Janis.
Pallbearers will be Ronald DuBray Jr, Elliot DuBray, William Standing Bear, Spencer Standing Bear, Patrick Reddy, and Derrick Reddy.
