Chadron Congregational Church welcomed Jon Reiners, CEO of Chadron Hospital, on Tuesday night to discuss the discontinuing of the dialysis service. Reiners said, “ I know there’s questions, I know there’s concerns.”

Reiners spoke about the difficult decision and the ultimate need as the hospital was losing around a million dollars a year operating this support. Reiners said that he and his staff had been looking for about a year before announcing the discontinuation, looking for a different option and just wasn’t able to find one. Reiners said, “ The dialysis service line was a big part of the hospital’s financial concerns.”
Nicholas Fisher, on the board of trustees at the hospital, also spoke. “ Jon’s doing a great job. There’s some members of the community who are concerned with losing this, that has nothing to do with Jon. This was an issue that’s existed since 2011 at least and has gotten kicked down through the various boards until we were able to identify the issue.” Fisher said. “ If we don’t fix this, we will lose the hospital.”
