Graveside services for 81-year old Larry Mills are Monday, May 22, 2023 at 10:00 at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Hay Springs, NE.

Larry Dean Mills was born April 17, 1942, to LeRoy Mills & Jessie (Green) Mills and died Friday, May 12, 2023.Â
Larry lived most of his life around Hay Springs, except for a short period of time when he attended school in Casper, Wyo. He had a teacher there that he was very fond of
Larry worked at Ozzie’s Superette, Osborn’s IGA, and DeCastro’s; he also had a lawn mowing business. In 1986, he started to work for Dave and Mary Hansen at Hay Springs Lumber, where he met numerous friends and had his own unique way of waiting on people. Larry stayed there for the next 27 years before retiring in 2013
He enjoyed taking site seeing trips with Dave and Mary and his family. Larry and Donald would make at least one trip to Chadron each week and usually came back with stories of their trips. He also enjoyed his trips to Taco Johns on Taco Tuesday, going to the movies with Fred Bartling, and the boat rides.
Larry especially had a love of dogs; he would take care of friend’s pets when needed. Larry spent his spare time watching John Wayne movies, other westerns, and The Three Stooges. He could tell you amazing details about each of the Stooges.
Larry met the Rev Russell Seger and worshipped at The First Congregational Church in Chadron. Russ was not only Larry’s pastor, he was a very close friend.
Parkview Assisted Living in Rushville, NE, was Larry’s residence for the past few years until
his failing health required his care at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hay Springs. He passed away at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home with the care of Hospice.
Larry was preceded in death by both his parents, LeRoy (Peely) and Jessie, and his brother Donald.
Larry was a special friend and will be missed by many. God rest His Soul.
