Services will not be held for 68-year old Lee Belknap of Chadron. He has been cremated and his ashes will be spread later this year when his family gathers together.
Lee Vern Belknap was born in Chadron in 1953, but lived many places during his lifetime. He returned to retire in 2013 and always talked of how Chadron was his home
Lee joined the Navy in 1971 and saw a lot of the world. In 1984, he married Susan Thompson and they settled in the Dallas, Texas, area where they raised their family of 6.
Lee passed away December 17, 2021, at Chadron Community Hospital following complications from a stroke. He was surrounded by his children, who were enroute from Texas but joined him via FaceTime thanks to the MOST wonderful staff of nurses and doctors who got the kids online so they could be with their father at the end of his life.
Lee was preceded in death by his father Mark and sister Ruthie.
He leaves behind his mother Joyce Bernard and sister Marilyn Bible, his loving children Adrian Thompson (Ladonda) Heather Galvan (Joe) Amber Thompson, Marcus Belknap (Neha) Jessie Butler, and Chelsea Babroski (Michael), as well as many grandchildren.
Lee was a proud and loving father and his children were the joy of his life, as he would say repeatedly.
