Leonard Milton Holmgrain was born January 5, 1933 in Gordon, son of Floyd Harold and Lela (Lockwood) Holmgrain. He passed away at 10:10 p.m. Friday, Sept 8, 2023, at Carlinville Rehab and Nursing in Carlinville.
Mr Holmgrain graduated from Gordon High School, then obtained his undergraduate degree from Chadron State College and a Masters Degree in Business and Hospital Administration from the University of Nebraska. He also proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr Holmgrain and the former Marie Jean Blundell were married July 31, 1955. She preceded him in death on September 22, 2022.
Mr Holmgrain was employed for many years as the administrator of Kosciusko Hospital in Warsaw, IN. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Mizpah Shrine. He was an avid woodworker, art collector, and traveled extensively with his wife through the years.
Mr Holmgrain is survived by daughter Diane Hardy of Carlinville; grandson Joseph (Lexi) Hardy of Thayer, IL; brother Everette (Joan) Holmgrain of SD, and sister Phyllis Simpson of NE
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Holmgrain and Ernest Holmgrain.
