Memorial services for 87-year old Lila Ahrens of Hemingford, NE, are Friday, May 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chadron, NE.

Inurnment will follow at the Highland Center Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chadron. Donations can be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Lila Claudeen (Weber) Ahrens was born April 6, 1934 in Ainsworth, NE, to Paul and Irene Weber. She died May 19, 2021 at Chadron Community Hospital.

Lila was the oldest of 6 children, went to country school, and graduated high school in Alma, NE. She then attended Chadron State College, taking teaching courses. 

On April 15, 1955, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Lila married John August Ahrens. Together they raised three boys. After raising her own children she helped raise her grandchildren along with many other neighbor children. A house full of kids was never out of the ordinary. 

She loved the Lord with all her heart, serving Him through her family daily.

Lila is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Cindy Ahrens of Marsland, NE; son, Tom Ahrens of Marsland, NE; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Paula Ahrens of Palmer, AK. granddaughter Kim Haas and husband Kory, grandson Ben Ahrens and wife Shelby, grandson Coleman Ahrens and fiancée Madi, grandson Ian Ahrens and fiancee Ashley and grandson Logan Ahrens. Great grandsons Tayten and Jayce Haas and Brayden, Colben and Laeth Ahrens.

Lila is also survived by brother Jim Weber and wife Becky, sister Beth Gibbons, brother Ted Weber, brother Glen Weber and wife Lauretta, brother Gene Weber, and many special nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband and grandson Cole Ahrens preceded her in death.

Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements for Lila Ahrens.
