Nebraska voters may have another choice for governor in the November election.
Former State Senator Brett Lindstrom is considering a nonpartisan run for Nebraska governor, saying he is dissatisfied with the direction of the state but says he is not wanting to play spoiler.
Even if Lindstrom begins collecting signatures to get on the November third ballot he says that does not mean he will run. If he does he will be on the ballot with current Governor Jim Pillen and former
Democratic State Senator Lynne Walz of Fremont and Rick Beard of Omaha who represents the Legal Marijuana NOW party.
Lindstrom, who was considered a moderate Republican, lost to Pillen in the Republican primary election in 2022. He has since switched his party affiliation to Nonpartisan.
Three other candidates are already gathering signatures to get on the November ballot. Macy Budke of North Platte and Mark Cohen of Lemoyne for Nebraska’s 3rd Congressional District currently held by Adrian Smith and Dan Osborn of Omaha to run against U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts. Osborn ran against Deb Fisher in 2024 and came closer to winning her seat than any Democrat in more than a decade.
