It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Louis “Lou” Peter Weyers, who left us peacefully on March 1, 2024, at the age of 94, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Lou was born on September 13, 1929, in Hay Springs, Nebraska, and throughout his life, he exemplified the virtues of hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
Lou’s early years on the farm instilled in him a strong work ethic, which he carried throughout his diverse career-from his time as a farmer in Nebraska to owning a liquor store in Monte Vista, Colorado, ending his journey in the concrete precast business with Oldcastle in Littleton, at the age of 77.
An avid gardener, Lou took pride in his ability to cultivate beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetables, sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. His grandchildren fondly recall the joy of tractor rides with their grandfather, a testament to the loving and playful spirit that Lou embodied.
Known among his friends and family for his love of poker, slots and visits to the casino, Lou enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and cherished the moments spent with his wife, Linda, on their trips to Vegas and Cripple Creek.
Lou’s kind nature and warm heart will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a man who savored life’s sweetness, much like his favorite black licorice and jelly beans-a small indulgence that brought him great delight.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anna Weyers, and his daughters, Laura Weyers and Judy Potter, Lou’s memory will be honored and kept alive by his surviving family.
Lou leaves behind his wife, Linda; his children, Dwayne (Linda) Weyers, Terry Weyers, Diane (Mark) Worker and Brenda (Tim) Schubert, his 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, who will all hold him dear in their hearts.
As we bid farewell to Lou, we are comforted by the knowledge that his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will continue to inspire us all.
