Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says a man was shot and killed Tuesday night while partying on a boat at dock on Branched Oak Lake near Lincoln.
42-year-old Benjamin Case of Lincoln was pronounced dead at the scene while the suspect drove away from the scene.
Sheriff Wagner says Case and 4 friends were on his boat when a man the friends didn’t know walked onto the boat. Case opened the door from the cuddy cabin and was immediately shot twice by a pistol.
The others on the boat struggled with the gunman, then jumped into the lake to escape. Sheriff Wagner says it appears the suspect “knew where he was going” when he stepped onto the boat.
Investigators are checking with boat owners and nearby businesses to see if they have surveillance video that may include the gunman.
