Marcus Alan Hartzler was born on November 10, 1990, to Alan and Mickie (Hoban) Hartzler. He passed away in Crete on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

Marcus graduated from Sidney High School in 2009 where he competed in football, basketball, and track – winning letters in all 3 throughout high school and went on to attend Chadron State College on a track scholarship.

Marcus was a member of DeMolay from 9th grade until graduation and held many offices. He was his sister’s biggest fan, and quickly became a little brother to all her friends. He was also idolized by younger cousins and was a role model to many.

Marcus enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, camping, and Lake McConaughy. You could find him hanging out with his teammates and friends.

Marcus enjoyed his daughter Millee; she was the apple of daddy’s eye. He was a very loving father to his little girl, often sporting a tiara and playing dress up.

Marcus enjoyed talking and playing sports with his nephew Kaiden, but truly loved kids of all ages and they loved him too.

His enthusiasm for life, love for his family, and passion for sports will be missed by many.

Marcus is survived by his daughter Millee; his mother Mickie (Hoban) Hartzler; sister Magen Hartzler and boyfriend Uriah Bankes; nephew Kaiden Shatto of Douglas, WY; paternal grandparents Mike Sr and Gladys (Onken) Hartzler of Sidney, NE; maternal grandmother Marolyn Hoban of North Platte, NE; aunts and uncles Steve and Angie Hartzler of Sidney, NE, Traci and Larry Brachtenbach of Casper, WY, Brad Hartzler of Bedford, TX, Lori Hartzler of North Richland Hills, TX, Tony Schultz of North Platte, NE, Amber Hoban of North Platte, NE, and Andy and Elery Hoban of Nixa, MO; as well as several cousins and many close, special friends.

Marcus was preceded in death by his father Alan Hartzler, maternal grandfather Morris “Moe” Hoban, uncle Mike Hartzler, aunt Marcie Schultz, and special friend Scotty Robinson.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service of Sidney is in charge of the care and funeral arrangements for Marcus Hartzler.
