Funeral services for 67-year old Marilyn (Cross Dog) Deer are Thurs, Jan 27, 2022 at 10:00 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church in Oglala, SD, with traditional Lakota Services by Mr Clifton Long

A one-night wake service starts Wed, Jan 26, at 2:30, also at the Makasan Presbyterian Church in Oglala, SD 

Burial is at the Holy Rosary Mission Catholic Cemetery in Pine Ridge.

Marilyn Lucy Deer “Wanbli Winyan” ~Eagle Woman~ was born on February 22, 1954 in Pine Ridge, SD to Lincoln Cross Dog and Ramona Long. Marilyn made her journey to the Spirit World on January 18, 2022 at the Lori-Merriter Hospital in Madison, WI.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Yvette Deer, Milton Deer, Nicole (Deer) Riggle and Rory Deer, Jr.; grandchildren, Khalon Thomas, Naylynne Leonard, Nate Leonard, Brock Riggle, Bryce Riggle, and Gary Ferguson; great-grandson, Samael Ferguson; siblings, Linn Cross Dog, Lois Long, Beverly Long, Ivan Long, David Long, Jr., Samuel Long, Missy Long, Tony Long, Chester Cross Dog, Wanda Cross Dog and William Cross Dog; cousins, Bernadine Dabutch & family, Clovia Malatare & family, Violet Catches & family, Rueben Catches, Betty Catches, Sylvia Tobacco, Dorothi Tobacco, Mary Tobacco, Anne Tobacco, Joe Catches, Arvella “Sissy” Catches, Emily Catches, and Molly; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Rory “Lenny” Deer, Sr.; parents, Ramona Long and Lincoln Cross Dog; siblings, Milton Cross Dog, Manuel Long, Genevieve Long, Baby Esther Long, John Cross Dog, Caeser Cross Dog, Flora Cross Dog, Lincoln Cross Dog, Jr., Thomas Catches, Paige Ivy Deer and many more relatives. 

Pallbearers will be Troy Weston, Jr., Ramsey Long, Justin Mousseau, David Mousseau, Derek Cross Dog, Nate Leonard, Khalon Thomas, Storm Hendricks, Ronald Mousseau, Lydell Mousseau, Anthony Long, Jr., Robin Condon, Jr., Sonny Cross Dog, Christopher Cross Dog, Troy Weston, Jr. and John Henry Long.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Catches Family and All Friends & Relatives.
