A Minatare police officer has been arrested for allegedly stealing guns from the department and pawning them to pay debts.
32-year old Bryan Martinez, who’s also a Sioux County Sheriff’s deputy, was arrested at home on Tuesday. He faces 3 counts of theft and 1 of passing a bad check.
The Nebraska State Patrol says an investigation into Martinez began in January when a local store reported that he’d written a bad check.
The investigation discovered several guns were missing from the Minatare Police Department and authorities believe Martinez stole them and sold 3 to a local pawn shop. The investigation is continuing.
