Noem Signs Another Bill Limiting Abortions

Loading

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has signed a bill to wipe away state and county fees for concealed firearm permits.

The conservative Republican brought the proposal this year as a way to both tout her support for gun ownership rights and cut government fees.

She also wanted to eliminate state business filing fees, but lawmakers struck that portion – arguing it would create a flood of out-of-state entities applying for business registrations in South Dakota.

The new law has a negligible impact on state finances. It’s estimated to cost the state only about $110,000 annually in lost revenue.
