One man has died after a police pursuit turned fatal Saturday evening near Lincoln.
The Nebraska State Patrol said in a release that just before 8pm Saturday a trooper saw a motorcycle speeding on Interstate 80 in Lincoln. The trooper attempted a traffic stop but the rider refused to stop and fled. The rider continued to drive recklessly causing a pursuit to ensue.
The rider weaved through traffic, drove onto the shoulder then exited the interstate at mile marker 395. As the motorcycle exited the interstate the rider failed to navigate the off-ramp and crashed. Troopers attempted life saving measures but the rider, 59 year old Jeffery McDonald of Malcolm was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Nebraska State Patrol has requested the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the crash.
