The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names in the death Saturday night northeast of Hot Springs of a woman who was hit by an SUV after she was thrown from her motorcycle when she hit a deer.

Killed at the scene was 50-year old Deanna Elmquist of Hot Springs while the driver of the SUV, 70-year old Darryl Anderson of Gillette, was uninjured.

The Highway Patrol says Elmquist was southbound on Hwy 79 about 12 miles from Hot Springs around 10:30 PM when she hit a deer that ran onto the roadway.

The impact threw Elmquist off the bike and into the southbound driving lane where Anderson was unable to avoid hitting her. She was not wearing a helmet while Anderson was wearing a seat belt.
