A Pine Ridge Reservation man has been sentenced to nearly 37 years in prison on assault, weapons, and sex offender charges.

30-year-old Isaac Roubideaux of Pine Ridge was indicted in December of last year after shooting a man in the back a month earlier.

Roubideaux was convicted by a federal jury in May of 8 charges that included single counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and discharge and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

The other convictions were  2 counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and 3 counts of failing to register as a sex offender.

The case began when Roubideaux used a rifle to shoot a male trying to leave Roubideaux’s home. The man was left paralyzed from the waist down

When he was arrested, it was found Roubideaux had been convicted of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in 2016. As part of his sentence in that case, he was required to register as a sex offender but failed 3 times in 2020 and 2021 to register after moving.

The sexual abuse conviction also barred Roubideaux from possessing any guns, but investigators found he had both a .22-caliber pistol and the rifle used in the November shooting.
