LYNNE WALZ FOR NEBRASKA

A new statewide poll released this week shows Democratic gubernatorial candidate Lynne Walz statistically tied with Governor Jim Pillen in the 2026 Nebraska governor’s race.

The survey showed Walz earning 45% support to Pillen’s 47% — within the poll’s margin of error among likely 2026 Nebraska voters. The new numbers reflect a tightening race. In July 2025, Walz trailed Pillen by 12 points. By December, the race had narrowed to four points. Today, the race is statistically tied as Walz continues building support across the state.

“This new poll confirms what we’re hearing across Nebraska every single day, that people want a change in leadership,” said Brandon Bayer, Senior Advisor to Lynne Walz. “Meanwhile, Lynne Walz has built a campaign focused on listening to Nebraskans, lowering costs, and growing our state.”

The poll also shows Walz gaining strength with independent voters, Democrats, and even Republican voters who are increasingly frustrated with the direction of state government. At the same time, Governor Pillen’s standing with voters has continued to deteriorate.

The poll was conducted by Lake Research between April 25-29, 2026. The margin of error for the poll is +/- 3.3%.
