The final 2 of 4 town hall meetings on a proposed Creative District in Chadron are today from 3-5:00 and 5:30-7:30 at the Mari Sandoz Center.

The proposed district is generally Main Street from Chadron State College to the railroad tracks, but also includes a few blocks east or west in spots to includes facilities such as the public library and the Chadron Arts Center.

Northwest Nebraska Tourism Director Kerri Rempp says a creative district utilizes the arts as an economic driver for communities by telling their stories and elevating the value of the arts.

Rempp says the town hall meetings, 2 on Tuesday for artists and crafters and 2 today for the general public, are intended to help organizers plan out a long-term strategy on the direction for the creative district.

Creative districts are a new program established last year by the legislature and run by the Nebraska Arts Council with state funding for grants.
