Taking a page from the retail industry, the University of Nebraska is waiving the $45 undergraduate admissions application fee for next year at all 4 of its campuses through the end of the month.
Resident students using the university system’s shared admission application system for UNL, UNO, UNK and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture simply need to select “fee waiver” and enter the code “NUforNE” to have the fee waived.
University of Nebraska President Ted Carter says the fee waiver is part of an ongoing system-wide effort to expand access and encourage college-going among students and families.
Carter says access to higher education is as important now as it has ever been with the university doing everything it can to minimize costs for students and families – calling the $45 application fee “real money.”
The system-wide fee waiver was launched in 2020, the result of a collaborative effort by admissions teams across the 4 campuses to broaden access for students and increase the university’s visibility during a critical phase in the enrollment cycle.
Carter is also reminding prospective students of the Nebraska Promise program, which allows qualifying resident students with family incomes of $65,000 or less to attend any NU campus tuition-free.
Students must complete the FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid – to be eligible for Nebraska Promise. The FAFSA becomes available on October 1st.
