Panhandle Teen Killed In Saturday Crash In Wyoming

Loading

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says a Nebraska Panhandle teenager was killed Saturday morning in a 3-vehicle crash on Hwy 85 north of Cheyenne.

The Highway Patrol says 18-year old Wyatt Butler of rural Minatare was westbound around 11;30 am when he tried to pass a pickup and semi that had stopped due to a blockage in the roadway.

An oncoming vehicle forced Butler to swing his pickup back into the northbound lane, but he hit the other pickup in the side and spun, crashing into the semi before coming to rest on the east side of the highway.

Butler was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Patrol says speed, driver inattention, and cell phone use are being investigated as possible contributing factors into the crash.
