Panhandle Traffic Stop Lands Rapid City Trio In Jail On Drug Charges

Loading

Three Rapid City residents are in custody in the Panhandle after a 2-state effort that resulted in the seizure of more than a pound and a half of methamphetamine in their vehicle during a traffic stop on Hwy 385 near Gurley..

25-year old Breohnna Big Crow, 37-year old Monique Merrival, and 33-year old Dawn Dowty were arrested early Tuesday morning for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

The Nebraska State Patrol received information that an SUV carrying illegal drugs for sale across the Panhandle was en route to the Pine Ridge Reservation

A trooper spotted the described SUV about 3:15 am, stopped it, and learned while talking to Big Crow, the driver, that she had an outstanding warrant.

In the process of taking her into custody on the warrant, a controlled substance was found in her possession.

The SUV was then searched and 1.6-pounds of meth and a smaller amount of psilocybin mushrooms were found and seized, resulting in the arrests of Merrival and Dowty.

The WING Drug Task Force, BIA Division of Drug Enforcement, the FBI Badlands Safe Trails Task Force, and the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit all assisted the State Patrol.

  1. I wonder what bs reason the trooper used to make the stop. Why is it every time they get a tip, the car in question ALWAYS commits a traffic violation right in front of the cops. I get some people maybe do something wrong but if I am riding dirty (same for everyone I ask) you are checking your lights, cruise control set, seat belts on, no smoking cigarettes, no hats, bandanas, skull caps. I know how careful I am and those dirty cops are still gonna find reason to stop you. And then they will lie to get a search.

  2. I’ve been stopped two separate times, both times a dog smelled drugs I was told, they searched found nothing, it doesn’t matter what you are stopped for, they keep a person there until a k-9 unit arrives that should be illegal to detain a person.

  3. good job ,It’s always appreciated by this former meth addict when law enforcement works together to make it a little easier for me to stay clean .
Thank you I do feel your efforts at the street level and it does help me to stay clean even longer God bless all of you for what you do.
