Nebraska’s Jim Pillen joins Kristi Noem of South Dakota and 14 other Republican governors on the Texas-Mexico border tomorrow to receive an in-person security update on the situation at the southern border
Major General Craig Strong, Adjutant General of the Nebraska National Guard, is also among those making the trip.
The governors will hold a joint news conference following the security briefing at 1:30 MT in Eagle Pass. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has been scheduling similar briefings and news conferences with his fellow Republicans for months.
Pillen says securing the border “is critical to the security of Nebraskans as well as all Americans,” adding that Nebraska and other states need to continue to support Abbott’s Operation Lone Star.
Pillen says the trip will give him a better chance to assess what additional resources Nebraska can offer to help secure the border, stop the flow of illegal drugs, and end the humanitarian crisis.”
Last year, Pillen deployed drone operators from the Nebraska State Patrol to assist with surveillance operations while more than 60 members of the Nebraska National Guard conducted operations alongside Texas authorities at the border..
