Polly Ann Swayne was born to Milton and Joan Sundin in Cheyenne, Wyo, on January 1, 1956, and passed away on April 9, 2022.

At the time of her birth, Polly’s family was living on a farm near Pine Bluffs, Wyo. In March of that year, the family moved to Nebraska and it was on a wheat farm in Banner County that Polly and her three sisters grew up.

Since there were only girls in the family, they learned to help with farm work any way they could. They became familiar with driving tractors, trucks, combines and swathers.

Polly graduated from Banner High school in 1974, then attended Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff and Chadron State College to complete her degree in Elementary Education.

She moved to the Northern Panhandle when she accepted a job teaching 1st grade in Rushville, NE.

On December 22, 1980, she was married to Kenneth Swayne from Gordon. After being blessed with the birth of their son Martin in 1982,

Polly left the teaching profession to be a homemaker and ranch wife. Their daughter Lacey was born in 1985 and the couple raised their children on the family ranch, six miles north of Gordon.

Polly enjoyed the rural lifestyle and worked side by side with Kenny all her able years on the ranch. She knew nothing about raising livestock when she moved to Sheridan County, but grew to love the challenges presented on a daily basis in caring for the cattle and the land.

Polly was diagnosed with cancer in December 2020 and often expressed appreciation for the love and support from so many during her final days.

Her survivors include her husband Kenneth, son Martin and wife Sitka, daughter Lacey, granddaughter Dalla, mother Joan Sundin, sisters and their husbands: Susan and George Williams, Karen and Dave Wisseman, Jane and Bruce Filener, sister-in-law Mary Helen Wilson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Milton Sundin, father-in-law George Swayne and mother-in-law Helen Swayne.
