Northwest Rural Public Power District was allowed to turn power back on to areas that were without power from mid-Thursday into the early Friday morning hours.

Northwest Rural Public Power District said in a Facebook post a little before 10am that they were able to restore the power to all customers in the Ash Pole Fire area to the southwest of Chadron.

NRPPD originally cut power to the area north of River Road going north on Squaw Mound Road around 11am Thursday due to reports of burned trees in danger of falling on power lines. Power was off for nearly 24 hours before crews restored it Friday morning.

NRPPD asks that if the power is still off or people see hazards that may need addressed to call in to NRPPD and report it.
