Attorney Karen Haase of the firm KSB School Law of Lincoln is in Chadron today to help students and the community learn to be good digital citizens.

She’s leading separate sessions today for middle school and high school students, then is holding one for parents and anyone else interested in the subject at 5:15 in the Chadron High School auditorium.

Haase says a digital citizen is a person who uses information technology to engage in society, politics, and government by using the internet regularly and effectively.

She says that, unfortunately, “all too often we see the negative side of digital communications when students and adults alike misuse technology.

Haase will talk about apps and social media, the laws that govern the use of social media, and how schools respond to problems related to social media and apps.
