Funeral services for 56-year old Raelee Long Soldier are Tues, May 21, 2024 at 1:00 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD, with Mother Michelle Dayton officiating. 

Burial is at St Barnabas Episcopal Cemetery in Kyle.

A one-night wake service starts Monday, May 20, at 2:00 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle with evening services at 6:00.

Raelee “Elizabeth” Long Soldier was born on Sept 13, 1967 in Pine Ridge, SD to Alvin & Ethel Comes-Long Soldier and was raised by her paternal grandparents Francis & Evelyn Long Soldier. Raelee made her journey to the Spirit World on May 7, 2024 at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO.

Raelee grew up in Wanblee, SD, then moved to Kyle in the early 2000s and lived there until her passing.  She was a very kind-hearted person and was always happy to help when she could.  She loved all of her grandchildren and her baby Jaionnah unconditionally.  

Raelee enjoyed visiting and spending time with her brothers and sisters and playing cards.  She also loved to smoke cigarettes and drink coffee.  Raelee will be greatly missed by her loved ones. 

Raelee is survived by her father Alvin Long Soldier; spouse Harold Red Owl; daughters Kateri (Kasey) Black Hawk, Traci (Winona) Seminole, Dakota Blue Legs, and Jaionnah Cross; sisters Delphine One Horn, Eileen (Robert) Running Bear, and Rhonda Long Soldier; brothers Gerald (Dorothy) Long Soldier, Craig Long Soldier, Hakela (Tanna) Long Soldier, Marlin Long Soldier, Palauni Long Soldier, and Alvin Long Soldier; aunts Colleen Bettelyoun, Annie Brings Him Back, Delores Janis, and Sharon Yellow Boy; and grandchildren, Jayceon Apple, Lazeyvia Few Tails, Lalicia Few Tails, Evelyn Blue Legs, Kaitlyn Blue Legs, Aniyanna One Horn, William Blue Legs, Robert Blue Legs, and Avy Blue Legs.

Raelee was preceded in death by her mother Ethel Comes-Long Soldier; father Francis & Evelyn Long Soldier; grandson Devyn One Horn; maternal mother Ethel Comes; maternal grandparents Clarence & Lucille Comes-White Thunder; sisters Claudette Ashley and Evelyn Ann “Evie” Long Soldier; brother Shaun Long Soldier; niece Tashauni Long Soldier; and nephews Anfernee Long Soldier and Jerell Long Soldier. 

Pallbearers will be Harold Red Owl, Kasey Black Hawk, Gerald Long Soldier, Palauni Long Soldier, Donald Long Soldier, Jordan Long Soldier, and Hakela Long Soldier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arnell Two Crow & Family, Lorraine New & Family, Ella Long Soldier, Lynette Iron Crow, Marlene & Eli Brave Heart, Bonnie Ghost Bear, Liz & Sam One Horn & Family, Grandpa Willie Janis, George White Thunder, Sylvan Pumpkin Seed, Florene Chipps & Family, Red Owl Family, Charging Crow Family of Wanblee, and all friends & relatives.
