The Crawford Rams went 1-1 to open the 2022 boys’ and girls’ basketball seasons.
On the men’s side, the Rams opened the year against Bayard Friday, suffering a 59-41 loss, but picked up their first win Saturday over Sioux County 49-24.
Crawford used the first half to build a commanding lead Saturday in the victory. The Rams led 14-7 after the opening quarter and used a 16-3 run in the second to take a 30-10 lead into the locker room. Neither team found much in terms of offense during the third quarter, with the Rams adding five to the board, and Sioux County netting just three points. Crawford went on a 14-11 run in the final eight minutes to secure the win.
Carter Rudloff led the Rams with 17 points against Sioux County. Stats for the Bayard game are not available.
The Lady Rams kicked off their season Thursday against Cody-Kilgore in a contest played in Harrison, as the Crawford team is joined by four Sioux County girls this season. The Rams defeated the Cowgirls 50-40 but lost to Bayard Friday 63-19. Bayard was up 26-7 at half-time and allowed the Rams just 12 points in the second half while netting 37 of their own.
