Rams Drop First Game in OT

The Crawford boys dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to Garden County Saturday. The 56-52 loss was the first of the season for the Rams, who led 14-12 after one quarter of play. Garden County outpaced Crawford in the middle frames 15-9 and 12-7 only to see the Rams put together a 16-7 run in the final eight minutes to force the overtime period. The Eagles were able to add 10 to board and hold Crawford to six for the victory.

The Rams hit nine treys in the game, including five by Taylor Homan who led Crawford with 21 points. Cyrus Walter earned a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Rams. The Eagles had five treys of their own, and outshot the Rams from field goal range 16-10 and were better from the free throw line by a 9-5 margin.

Earlier in the week, the Crawford boys won a 36-20 battle with Gordon-Rushville. The Rams led from the outset with a 9-7 showing in the first quarter and were up 14-11 at half-time. Crawford put up 14 in the fourth quarter, the only period either team broke double digits. Carter Rudloff earned a double-double to lead the Rams with 12 points and 12 boards, while Roman Metz added 10 points and had six steals on defense. Stats for Gordon-Rushville were not available.
