The Crawford Rams went 0-2 in boys’ and girls’ action in the final rounds of Panhandle Conference Tournament Friday and Saturday with both teams finishing in fourth place.
The Crawford boys suffered a 68-31 loss to Hemingford Friday to pit them against Morrill Saturday. A fourth-quarter challenge by the Rams fell short, and they dropped the contest 48-44.
Crawford had a one-point lead, 11-10, after the first quarter, but a 12-5 run by Morrill gave the Lions a 22-16 advantage at half-time. Morrill extended their lead to 35-26 by the end of the third, but the Rams mounted a late challenge, putting together an 18-13 run in an effort to claim the win.

In girls’ action, the Rams lost to Hay Springs 58-42 Friday. The Hawks controlled the game from the outset, with a 19-7 lead after one quarter and a 37-18 edge at half-time.
The Rams cut into the Hawks lead in the third quarter, outpacing the Hawks 16-11, but a 10-8 run in favor of Hay Springs in the final eight minutes secured the win for Hay Springs. The Hawks had three players in double digits – Samantha Toof with 23, and Gabby Twarling and Mya Turman with 13 each.
The Hawks went on to win the title in the girls’ tournament, defeating Edgemont in the championship game 48-39.
The Rams also lost to Morrill 68-54 Saturday. No stats for either of the Rams’ games are available.
