Record Numbers For 6th Annual Best of the West Business Invitational At CSC

      Sidney won the team title at the 6th annual Best of the West Business Invitational held recently at Chadron State College. Alliance placed 2nd and Hemingford 3rd.

        This year’s event was the biggest yet with 106 high school students from 8 schools including Chadron, Hay Springs, Morrill, and Valentine participating.

      Tobin Rust of Chadron won the Intro to Business contest with teammate Blaine Tewahade placing 1st in Job Interview and 4th in Accounting. 

     Chadron’s Jaelyn Brown was 3rd in Intro to FBLA Policies and Procedures with JT Obando 3rd in Intro to Financial Math and Thomas Smith 4th in Economics

        Hay Springs had 2 placers, both named Dylan, in Intro to Business with Dylan Young 2nd and Dylan Raymer 5th. Young was also 5th in Intro to FLBA Policies.

     Lillian Dorhorst also placed in 2 events with a 2nd in Intro to Financial Math and 5th in Business Communication.

      Mia Skinner brought a 2nd to Hay Springs in Job Interview, Abigail Russell was 4th in Business Calculations, and Julia Russell 4th in Intro to FBLA.

    Chadron State and the  Council on Economic Education began the Best of the West to help prepare students for the FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America – state competition, which this year is April 3-5 in Kearney.

     Best of the West uses the FBLA competition guidelines with CSC faculty members judging the job interview contest.

    Volunteers from the Nebraska Business Development Center and students from the Rural Business Leadership Initiative also assisted with the event.
