A Mass of Christian Burial for 71-year old Rita Buckman will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD.
Burial is at Holy Cross Episcopal Cemetery in Pine Ridge.
Visitation precedes the mass from 10:00-Noon, also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church
Rita Maria Buckman was born on April 16, 1950 in Pine Ridge, SD to Vernon “Babe” Buckman and Nellie Helen Juel Buckman. Rita made her journey to the Spirit World on April 14, 2022 near Oglala, SD.
Rita is survived by her daughters, Emma Brewer and Nancy Big Crow of Pine Ridge, SD; son, Teddy (Joy) Big Crow of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Jolene, Patty & Vernell Buckman, and Francis “Buffy” White; grandchildren, Kierra Lopez, Jacob Standing Bear, & Dakota Big Crow, all of Pine Ridge, SD, and Shyanne, Gabriel, Teddy, Jr., & Michael Big Crow, all of San Antonio, TX; and great grandchildren, Emma Gibbons, Toby Belt, and Kenobi Standing Bear.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon “Babe” & Nellie Helen Juel Buckman; sister, Cheryl Buckman; and brothers, Clifford, Oral, and Larry Buckman.
Pallbearers will be Dakota Big Crow, Jacob Standing Bear, James Oldson, Charles Oldson, Beau Two Two, Walt Cournoyer, Michael “Bam” Thunder Horse, Sr., Charles “Tuna” Oldson, Charlie Standing Bear, and Kierra Lopez.
