The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has suspended Chadron State College women’s basketball head coach Travis Brewster for 3 games and fined the program $5,000 for his decision to forfeit last Saturday’s game at Adams State in the 3rd quarter.

Chadron State says it accepts the RMAC decision and will continue to fully cooperate with conference officials. The RMAC Office offered thanks to the CSC administrators for their cooperation in the process.

The Eagles had 8 players available at the time of Saturday’s forfeit and Brewster cited safety concerns in a statement released after the game.

The RMAC says Brewster’s decision was “unacceptable and contrary” to the RMAC Philosophy Statement and Ethical Conduct Policy as well as the “spirit of the game.” The league also says it was wholly unfair to participating student-athletes.

CSC has not said who will be the head coach during Brewster’s suspension. He has two coaching assistants,

Emma Sterkel was a graduate assistant last season at Briarcliff while Tyra Carlsten Handberg had coached and played in her native Sweden after graduating from the University of Toledo in 2020.

The Eagles are on the road in Colorado this weekend, playing Friday night at Colorado-Colorado Springs and Saturday afternoon at Regis in Denver.
