Capt. Rodney “Rocky” Wilson Cuny was born on July 16, 1960 in Winner, SD to Orville Cuny and Carrie (Garcia) Cuny. Rocky was surrounded by his wife, Tana Brown, his son Ryan Cuny & his family when he passed away on November 15, 2025.
Rocky had a profound heart. He was loving, generous and always willing to help those in need. His compassion and genuine care for the people were so strong that many of his former patients became life-long friends.
Rocky is survived by his beloved wife, Tana Brown; his son, Ryan and two grandsons,
Ammon Cuny and Morris Winkle; his cherished pets, Pierce & Rudy; stepsister, Deb Cuny; and numerous extended relatives and friends.
Rocky was preceded in death by his father, Orville Cuny; mother, Carrie (Garcia) Cuny; sisters, Mary Cuny and Pamela Cuny; brothers, Orville Dean (Deanie) Cuny and Bradley Cuny and his son, Russell; grandparents, Wilson & Florence (Twiss) Cuny; uncles, Willard Cuny, Alvin Cuny, Alphonso (Sony) Cuny, and Robert Cuny; aunts, Mary Jane Steele, Sister Genevieve (Pansy) Cuny, Pearl Anderson, Belva Gonzalez, Louise DeSersa, and Elizabeth (Sissy) DeSersa; and numerous extended relatives.
Honorary pallbearers will be All of Rocky’s Family, Friends, & I.H.S. Staff.
Funeral Services: 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Wakan Tiospaye Building (Red) BIA Hwy 33, Steele Place Rd., Rockyford, SD.
