Funeral services for 72-year old Roger Running Bear Sr are Tues, April 16, 2024 at 2:00 at the Messiah Episcopal Church in Wounded Knee, SD, with Pastor Julie Jealous, Pastor David Lays Bad, and Father Ron Seminara, SJ, officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mike Little Boy Jr.
Burial is at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Wounded Knee
A two-night wake service starts Sunday, April 14, at 1:00 at the Messiah Episcopal Church in Wounded Kne3 with evening services each night at 7:00.

Roger Michael Running Bear Sr was born on Oct 26, 1951 in Gibbon, NE to Richard Running Bear Jr and Zelda (Leading Horse) Running Bear. Roger Sr made his journey to the Spirit World on April 4, 2024 at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City, SD.
Roger is survived by his wife Marletta Running Bear; step-son Izzy Shot; son Roger Running Bear Jr; daughter Crystal Running Bear; grandchildren Alicia Munoz, Cassidy (Jader) Running Bear, Carol Exendine, Wankiya Rios, Jessica Valenzuela, and Rosalie Spencer; great-grandchildren Jayden Munoz, Rory Running Bear, LJ Two Bulls, and Lina Valenzuela; brothers Richard Running Bear Jr and Harold Dean Running Bear; sister Marjorie Running Bear-Sanchez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” Running Bear Jr; mother Zelda Louise Running Bear; brothers Pat, Robert, and Levi Running Bear; sister Rita Running Bear; and step-son Sheridan Shott.
Pallbearers will be Tim White Face, Chester Steele, Darrell Fast Horse, Delane Singing Goose, James Crooked Eyes, and Dave Spencer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ruby Dodge, nurses of Hospice Monument Health Home, Francis White Dress and Family, Marjorie Running Bear, Sanchez and family, Body of Christ Members, and all friends & relatives.
