Trish Ladner is running for South Dakota House of Representatives. KSCR had the privilege of interviewing her.

Ladner said she received a call and was asked if she would consider running in 2020 at the beginning of Covid. Already running a marketing business, Ladner said, “ I told them, we’re really busy. We’re really going to have to pray about this so we talked and prayed about it and I called and said I’d run.” Ladner said, “ It’s been something you just know you’re supposed to do.”

Ladner spoke about the work she’s been doing on property tax reforms for the past six years and the success she’s had in areas such as veterans affairs, the elderly, and ranchers. Ladner commented on bills she’s been working on such as one to protect the home owner against contractors. Another bill is one to ban cell cultured meat ( meat grown in a petri dish.) Ladner said, “We passed it in the house and senate but the governor vetoed it. My ranchers don’t like it though so I’m going to keep working on that.”

Ladner and her husband own a marketing company that builds websites for small businesses. Ladner said, in reference to small companies, “ I want them to succeed. That’s what America’s all about. That’s been fun and I take that to Pierre. How do we help small businesses? I know we’re going to grow but what’s the plan? I like to see a plan.”

Ladner said, “ It’s been an honor to be the people’s voice in Pierre and I hope I get to serve them for two more years. It’s been a humbling honor.”
