Funeral services for 67-old Terry Hernandez are Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11:00 at the Rockyford Community Center in Rockyford, SD, with Deacon Bill White officiating. 

Burial is at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Porcupine, SD

A one-night wake service starts Friday, October 29, at 4:00, also at the Rockyford Community Center with a Rosary starting at 8:00 PM.

Terry Everette Hernandez was born on September 9, 1954, in Pine Ridge, SD to Chauncey Hernandez Sr and Eleanor (Cottier) Hernandez. Terry made his journey to the Spirit World on October 17, 2021, at home in Porcupine.

Terry Hernandez was born at the Pine Ridge Old Hospital and raised in Manderson, SD, but later moved to Sharp’s Corner, SD. He worked various jobs throughout his life. 

Terry lived a country lifestyle and loved riding horses. One of his pleasures was caring for the different animals his mother was raising. He also liked fishing, hunting, and making jerky. 

Terry had a passion for quillwork and beadwork, and was always beading and quilling items, especially hats. Unfortunately, he developed arthritis later in life and slowly gave up on his passion for beadwork and quillwork. 

He will truly be missed by many.

Terry is survived by his daughters, Amber Hernandez and Helena Hernandez; siblings, Karen (Edwin) Brewer, Ellen Hernandez, and Donald Hernandez; nieces, Lisa (Tom) Tuttle, Shawmarie Baum, Michelle (Cash) Pourier, Troylynn Twiss, Terrilynn Hernandez, Eleanor (Cetan) Cournoyer, Haley Hernandez, Ashley Hernandez, and Stacy Hernandez; nephews, Shawn Janis, Calvin Yellow Boy, Nicholas (Liz) Hernandez, Darrell (Stevanna) Hernandez, Julian Hernandez, Wade Hernandez, and DL Hernandez; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Chauncey Hernandez, Sr. and Eleanor (Cottier) Hernandez; and brothers, Benjamin Hernandez and Chauncey Hernandez, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Vic Shoulders, Jaime Shoulders, Sam Bear Eagle, Nicholas Hernandez, Darrell Hernandez, and Richard White.

Honorary Pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
