Trivian Yellow Bear

Loading

Trivian Emma Yellow Bear was born on August 11, 1959, in Pine Ridge, SD to Peter Yellow Bear and Edith Thunder Tail. Surrounded by the love of her family after a long battle with health complications, Trivian made her journey to the Spirit World on May 07, 2026, at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Trivian was a strong, stubborn, funny, resilient, and giving woman who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.  She loved spending time talking with her daughters, neighbors, and grandchildren. She enjoyed reminiscing, sharing advice, and staying busy – always moving and always finding something to do. Her home, heart, and care were often open to others, especially children and those who needed comfort, guidance, or support. More than anything, she loved her family deeply and held her children close both in life and in her heart. Through every hardship, she continued to love and care deeply for those around her.

Trivian’s faith remained important to her throughout her life. She carried both a belief in God and a respect for Lakota Sioux spirituality and traditions.

Trivian is survived by her children, Thedna (Teddie) Rose, Michelle, Holly and Cameron; her brother Morey “Sonny”; and her beloved grandchildren, Julien and Omari, Warren Junior, Michael (Joey) and Rose, Thais and Lawrence.

Trivian was preceded in death by her parents, Edith Thunder Tail and Peter Yellow Bear; her sisters, Rose, Helen, and Serena; and her partner Benjamin G. Kelly.

In accordance with her wishes, a private family and friends viewing will be held followed by cremation and immediate burial.

The family asks that Trivian be remembered for her strength, humor, love, and the care she showed to the people around her throughout her life.
