Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed five impaired drivers from the road in Scotts Bluff County during Oregon Trail Days.

Oregon Trail Days ran from Thursday through Sunday of last week. Troopers performed high visibility patrols throughout the event, in addition to providing safe-driving education messages at the event itself.

“Oregon Trail Days is always a great time for our communities in Scotts Bluff County,” said Major Jeff Roby, NSP Western Operations Major. “We’re thankful that this weekend was safe on the roads for everyone in attendance. As the community events continue this summer, please always have a sober driver lined-up to get home safely.”

Oregon Trail Days marked its 102nd consecutive year in 2023. The events occurred at several locations around Gering. NSP’s effort was made possible thanks in part to a grant for $1,770 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office. NDOT-HSO has designated Scotts Bluff County as a priority county for 2023.

Statewide, troopers arrested 20 drivers for driving under the influence last weekend.
